Financial News

Dear Parishioners,

I hope this message finds everyone in good health and spirits. The State of NJ recently has reported updated guidelines concerning events as well as social gatherings. It appears we will be back to normal in the future months ahead.

Thank you for being active and faithful members of our church.  St. Athanasios is grateful you all bless the church with your continued generosity. By giving to our church you’re showing that our church has a meaningful place in your heart.

Even with the ongoing challenging events taking place in 2020 concerning the pandemic, St. Athanasios with the help of Philoptochos and Hope/Joy had a successful Laganes and Spanakopita sale. These funds helped raise approximately $4,000. With these proceeds another month of assessment was paid to the Archdiocese. As of May, there was a final payment owed for the 2020 year. To finalize our obligations, the final payment has been made. I am respectfully requesting if anyone has not made a Special Gift thus far or if they want to make another Special Gift offering, they can please do so at this time.

Money is a uniquely human issue, one we all struggle with to one degree or another. Even if you are financially blessed, you still have the burden of spending your money wisely.

We cannot accomplish the responsibility of maintaining the church without your support. Whether you give to the church on a regular basis, or just attend on occasion, we are asking you to consider contributing. It is something we need our entire church community’s help with.

Most recently in June, a Father’s Day 50/50 Raffle was held which resulted in $7,940 of net proceeds to the church. Congratulations to the winner!

There are additional ways to support the church. Below are some of the recent items to assist in the church’s budget.

Signing up with Amazon Smile. Amazon will donate to St. Athanasios based on everyone’s ongoing purchases – just visit smile.amazon.com to complete your purchases and select St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church.
