HOPE & JOY

Boys and girls between the ages of 4-7 are invited to join H.O.P.E., and ages 8-11 for J.O.Y.  These programs give the children the opportunity to learn about their faith, their church and the social world around them.  Meetings are held once a month on Fridays.

Hope & Joy News

Dear St. Athanasios families,

We would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year.  May 2014 fill your homes with every blessing.    For those of you that are new to HOPE and JOY, these are ministries of our Church and of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.  Our mission is to provide our families with a venue where we could reinforce Orthodoxy in the lives of our children while giving them a recreational and creative outlet.  HOPE is open to children between the ages of 4 and 7 and JOY is for children between the ages of 8 and 11.

In January we hosted a Vasilopita to celebrate the New Year along with having the children create a New Year’s resolution craft.  We wanted them to think of ways that they can improve upon themselves this year and something that they could then reflect on at the end of the year.

For JOY-aged children (8-11), Coach Andy Hios will again run the basketball workshop this year.  More information will follow via email and the Sunday Church Bulletin regarding dates and registration details.  Please feel free to contact us directly via our email with any inquiries.

Please mark your calendars for the following events:

Friday, February 28

Family Game Night & Dessert Pot Luck

Time:  6:00 – 8:30 pm

We will begin the evening with a discussion about Great Lent and how we should all prepare for Holy Easter.  The evening will continue with a night of fun for the kids to play different games.  We ask each family to bring a board game or another game of their choice for the children to play.  In addition, we ask that each family who joins bring a dessert that the parents can share over coffee while the children play.  For the children we will order pizza.  We ask that you bring $5 per child to cover the costs for the evening.
