Church Maintenance Committee Updates

Dear Parishioners,

The maintenance committee has worked through summer to make improvements and repairs to our Church and community center.  The following are some of the projects we have worked on:

  • We are in the process of installing energy efficient lighting throughout the buildings, through a PSE&G program
  • We replaced the roof at the entrance of the community center
  • We will be replacing and improving the church roof and dome area before the winter sets in
  • Repaired all locks to secure the building
  • Added interior and exterior security cameras throughout the buildings
  • We will be enhancing our acoustics in the gymnasium/community center
  • Installed all new whiteboards in all classrooms
  • Replaced the community center and church air conditioning units
  • We will be upgrading the landscaping of the property

A lot of time and funds have been put into the maintenance and upgrading of our parish buildings.   Please respect the facilities as you would your own home.

Sincerely,

Andy Hios

Maintenance Committee Chairman

Father’s Message – August 2015

Dear Parishioners,

To Orthodox Christians, August is a very sacred month – a month that brings with it a feeling of reverence. It is the month of the Blessed Theotokos.

On the fifteenth of August our Holy Orthodox Church celebrates the most solemn of feasts related to the Mother of God, her repose or falling asleep, but during this month we also celebrate the tremendous love the Virgin had for God.

Special prayer services are held during the first fifteen days of the month and it is a period of special fasting and spiritual preparation similiar to the great Lent.
